I'm getting the screen replaced because the pics on the phone are very important. I thought they were being stored on an SD, but the clerk at C Spire lied to me. (Imagine that.) What I want to do is transfer them to my computer and external hard drive, but haven't got a clue how to do it. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Welcome to Android Central! It's a problem, because you have to be able to unlock the screen before the PC can recognize the phone storage while connected via USB. You could try this method, but I don't think it works on newer phones: http://forums.androidcentral.com/gen...ed-screen.html

In the future, take advantage of Google Photos backup, to avoid mishaps like this: https://support.google.com/photos/an...DAndroid&hl=en

Have a look at Google Photos anyway. You may have been backing them up all this time.

If not, try a local repair shop and explain the situation - that you'd prefer if they didn't wipe your phone. Some repair shops will go along with that (especially if the owner is usually in the store - I did in my stores).
