Android Central Question

Hi,

I use this app called MacroDroid to lock my device sometimes and when I do, upon unlocking, I can't use smart lock. Is there a way around this which doesn't involve stopping the use of MacroDroid?

Thanks,
Luke

Unfortunately, nope. Unless the app releases control of the locking settings, Smart Lock is rendered inactive. Same thing happens with most corporate Exchange accounts with aggressive security requirements (but for that you can get around it using apps that 'enclose' the settings to an app environment, like Nine, instead of the phone... But that wouldn't let you use the app for locking the device, which is what you want).

Smart Lock was working on my new Oreo 8.1 phone, then I added my corporate Exchange account into Gmail and gave it the required administrator access. Smart Lock hasn't worked since. Even after I deleted the Exchange account from the phone. Is it possible that deleting the account didn't delete the admin privilege? How would I check this? I'd like to avoid a factory reset if I can. Assuming that I'm understanding this correctly. I've also heard that Smart Lock can be flaky and intermittent...
