Android Central Question

i have installed a wifi widget on my GS4. Now i want to install or share that widget on my GS8, but i can't find that widget in play store or can't share it , what to do?

It's possible the developer has chosen to remove the app (that's all it really is, is an app to add the item to the widgets list) or stop supporting it on newer versions of Android. You may be able to get it extracted to an APK to install on the S8, but it may not work on the newer API level of that device as that S4 is quite old and Android has changed a lot since it was last updated.

You can use App Backup & Restore on the S4 to extract the widget as an .apk file, copy it to the S8, find it in a file manager (My Files should still be Samsung's file manager), tap it and it should install. Then go to Widgets, drag it to a homescreen and see if it works.

This app does not seem to do anything useful. I have widgets I need to transfer to a replacement phone. I find one. I select it. I send it. On the new phone I receive it. ONLY thing that happens is that the app turns off the wifi on the receiving phone, and nothing gets transferred.

Widgets are a part of apps. In order for a phone to get a widget, you need to install the corresponding app on the phone. If that app is no longer available on the Play Store, or is not compatible with the new phone, then your only options are to find the apk file of that incompatible app on some website (which is risky, since there's more chance of malware) or extract the apk, as suggested by Rukbat 2 years ago), then copy that apk to the new phone and install it. Then you have to hope the app actually works, which won't always be the case, because there's probably a reason it was no longer available on the Play Store for the new phone.

I have a similar question got the new goggle Action Blocks - it creates widgets for voice commands, however, after backing up and transferring my data and apps from old phone to new phone the Google Action Block was on the new phone but none of the widgets. There doesn't appear to be any way to backup the widgets from the app itself.
