My phone is Honor 8 FRD-L09. After last night update security patch, my download folder and several others(Music folder, hw themes and some pictures folders)are gone... All files are missing and empty folders are remaining. What can be the solution and why my files are missing?

Welcome to Android Central! Which file manager app are you using to look for those folders? Do you still have the Downloads "app"? If so, does that show the contents of your Download folder correctly?

I recently started having the same problem. The downloads application is missing from my phone. Is there any way to restore it?

The "downloads application" is just a file manager set to show the Downloads folder. You can use any file manager.

Welcome to the forums. What phone do you have and what Android version is it running? In some recent devices the old Downloads app is called 'Files'. Search for this app in your app drawer.

I have a Moto Z. OS: Android 8.0.0 .. the download app disappeared after recent update. Files does not show up on my list of apps either. I do see files listed under app info however.

Yeah, that happened with most Moto devices after the Oreo update. Files is a system app and can't be found in the Play Store but it should show up in your app drawer and in settings - apps.

More than gone I'd say it's been redesigned and renamed. You can see your downloads from settings - storage - files, as well. Strange that you can't find the system Files app.

I think the Files app that you downloaded is Google's Files Go. Nice little app and it works as a basic file manager.

First one is the system app and second one is Google's.

The Downloads app was always a little buggy. If you got a file into the /Download directory using some other method besides downloading it from the web (e.g., by copying it from your PC via USB), it might not show up in the Downloads app, because I think that app would only show files that were handled by the Download Manager. Any file manager app can look in the /Download directory and show you a completely accurate listing of the files there.
