The contacts tab in my Galaxy S9+ Messages App includes almost everyone I've ever sent an email to instead of limiting the contacts in the app to the numbers from my phone contact list. This barrage of email contacts creates unnecessary clutter making it difficult to find and text people from my phone contact list. I cannot find a way to get the email addresses out of the contacts list so I can use the Messages App to send text messages to phones rather than email addresses. I'll use an email app if I want to send email.

I cannot find the location where the Messages app is finding and linking my email addresses. I've tried logging out of and deleting all email accounts on the phone in order to isolate the culprit but no luck.

Does anyone else find this annoying? Have you found a way around it? I am also thinking of switching to another sms app rather than the Samsung default.
