I use my calendar for all appointments and when I put a birthday in my contact list, it automatically puts that person's birthday on the calendar. Yesterday, mid- morning, all events (appointments, etc) disappeared from my calendar. It does not even show holidays. I have no idea what happened. Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Are you using the stock Calendar app, or the Google Calendar app (if the phone isn't a Pixel or Nexus)? Are you certain your various calendars are set to display (i.e., not hidden)? Go to the Calendar app's settings, and look at each individual calendar -- are they set to sync?

And go to Google Calendar and see what's there. If you're using the stock calendar app, that's the calendar it's showing. If you're using a different calendar app, it may keep the data locally or it may keep it on a server somewhere - contact the developer of the app for help.
