Can't connect Samsung s8 hotspot to my kindle

I'm a new user of android, and loving it until I get to little issues like this.

I have tried hotspotting my Samsung s8 to my kindle. It shows it is connected to my kindle on my s8, but the kindle says it cannot connect to the wifi network.

Have read a few things about 'adhoc' networks and rooting etc but can't come to a clear answer. Is it something to do with the hotspot signal or network or something ?

It sounds as if your carrier is blocking connections from anything connected via a hotspot on the phone. Check your account (with your carrier) and make sure you have hotspot capability as part of it.
