Can't do it that way. Contact files are encrypted. Only way to sync is to add a cloud account that will keep both devices synced up (honestly, the most advisable way of doing things... makes it easier to switch phones, too). You can also manually import the contacts into the other phone and make it a habit to manually re-import them every time you make a change or add anything.
Or use a 3rd party app that would probably require you to install on both devices to back up and restore contacts. I don't recall any that can do that automatically.
If you don't want to store your contacts in the cloud, then you'll need a third-party backup utility like My Backup Pro.
