Is it really necessary to fully charge and discharge a new battery 3 to 5 times?

I ordered an extended battery for my G4 and I've heard online that you should fully charge and discharge a new battery 3 to 5 times when you first get it. I was wondering if this is really necessary since full charges and discharges are so bad for lithium batteries and this will be a bit tedious with a 6500 mah battery. Thanks for help. :)

Edit: Thanks for the answer. I couldn't find any sort of comment button so this will have to do. I figured that this was the case. Kinda odd that the even some manufacturers are still saying this even though it's not true. Maybe to cycle the battery a bit faster so you need to get a new one sooner.

No, that would be a very bad thing for modern lithium batteries.
That was only needed for the ancient NiCad batteries of 15 years ago.

Fully charge the battery.
Use it down to maybe 20%, down to 0% is a bad thing.
