    I have set messages as my default app on my S9 but I still receive them through messenger. I have removed my phone # through FB and done everything else it seems to stop this from happening- can you please help?

    Your SMS messages are stored in a database on the phone.
    Any app that knows how to read the database will let you use that app to send and receive SMS messages.

    You should be able to go to the Settings app and remove the SMS privileges from FB Messenger.
