Android Central Question

Sms schemes of fraud are usually come in several forms: competitions and lotteries, personal sms with the request to put money into an account or some incredible services. In the first case, a person gets a proposal to answer the question and win a large sum, and it remains only to send a reciprocal SMS and receive a prize. I usually use to check unknown numbers. Their data base are often updating so I believe it’s a good way for reinsured myself.

One rule of thumb - if it seems too good to be true, it is. If you're not expecting a text or the content seems suspicious, then it's probably a probe for your data and not legit.

It's kind of like some of the robo-calls, they're just looking for active numbers to then spam further. I just ignore them.

I see the beginning of the text without opening it - and if it's "we have something free for you" I delete it without opening it. I don't even bother blocking it - robodialers are using assigned numbers (numbers belonging to someone) as their callerID (which is illegal, but they're doing it), so tomorrow the call is going to come from another state. Why bother?
