My pixel xl is stuck on the google screen

[Android Central Question]

While in the amazon shopping app, my phone sounded an alarm for approximately 20 seconds (sounded like an amber alert or severe weather alert, neither alert was happening) then went to the Google screen.

I tried powering down, but that did not work. I tried the power and volume up buttons and it blinked off then came right back on to the Google screen. Could anyone help?
