    SSID is the name assigned to the WiFi router, not the device you want to connect to it. Open WiFi settings and scan for available networks to see what you can find. If the one you want to use isn't listed, then you'll have to ask its owner what he named it (unless you're the owner, and then, you should know the name you assigned to the hotspot).

    Welcome to Android Central! If it's your own wi-fi network, make sure your router is set to broadcast the SSID -- there's usually a setting that allows you to hide the SSID.
