Can you put camera in video mode without starting the video?

Trying to put camera in video mode without video starting. That is the only way to gets the remote on a selfie stick to record and stop recording.

Which phone, which camera app? I'm able to switch to video mode on both my Honor 7X and Galaxy S9 without recording (I still have to hit the "start" button).

Same here. On every phone I've used, the stock app does not auto start recording when switching to video.
