I have chosen Samsung over apple iphone for many years. But why is nobody calling Samsung out for doing the same thing as the iphone? When a new model is coming out, samsung pretty much forces you to update software and then the phone starts slowing down. Jittering and overheating just like Apple admitted to doing with the iPhone?

Welcome to Android Central! It's true that sometimes an update is glitchy and can cause various issues. But this can also just be a temporary side effect of the update process, which can be remedied by wiping the cache partition. Which Samsung phone do you have? Here are the steps for wiping the cache partition for the S8; the steps should work for most recent Samsung phones as well: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-34311

It's worth pointing out that iPhones were slowing down because Apple purposefully throttled the CPU to prevent stress on aging batteries. Samsung doesn't do this.
