Why wont amazon music and kindle apps update? I keep getting error code 504 on google play store

Always get an error code when updating any Amazon apps on Google play, can't update via Amazon app store either

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen on both wi-fi and mobile data? Try going to Settings>Apps, select Google Play Store, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Do the same for Download Manager -- you probably have to tap Menu>Show System to see it. Now try again.
