When connecting to my 'Soundboks 2' speaker over bluetooth, the sound quality is absolutely horrible.

This does not happen with other devices, and I cant say i've experienced it with other speakers either.
Sent a sound test over to the soundboks customer service and they simply responded "Oh god that sounds horrible" and want me to return it for repairs.

I believe this is a device issue and therefore I am asking if anyone has any tips as to how I might fix this? Phone is rooted.

I have tried the simple reconnecting or re-pairing with the speaker.

Return it for repairs. It sounds as if they have a pretty good customer service policy. (Ask if they can email you a prepaid UPS or USPS label if you';re in the US. Then just print it, tape it to the package with transparent packing tape and send it off. Use old plastic bags as packing material. if you don't have the original stuff.)
