When scanning through a text or messenger thread, I tend to drop my finger down on the screen which prompts the emotion emoji bar to pop up with heads for love, wow, sad, angry thumb up and down. I frequently hit one without realizing and therefore want this function removed from my android galexy Note 8. Any help is appreciated.

Depends on the keyboard you're using. Usually there's an option in the Settings to either remove the Emoji button or delegate it to a long-press on a different key. For the Samsung keyboard I believe you can't disable it but you should be able to disable the tool bar if your phone has been updated to Oreo.
