I bought the international model of the Motorola G6 plus and it appears from the specifications, that it only uses GSM communication. Is it possible to change the settings in any way to make it compatible with us carriers?

    Welcome to Android Central!

GSM phones are compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T in the US, provided that the phone itself is capable of operating on the radio frequencies used by them. You'll also need to update APN settings for whichever network you'll be using in the US (https://www.androidcentral.com/what-...do-i-change-it).

There's no "international" version, there's the Brazil version and the European version. Neither of them will most likely work on either AT&T or T-Mobile towers.

    The European version (which I assume you meant) has bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 20 and 38.
    AT&T uses bands 2, 4, 5 and 17.
    T-Mobile uses bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 66 and 71.

So, you see, unless one of them is using band 5 where you are (different bands are used in different areas), you're out of luck - band 5 is the only band that the phone and both carriers have in common. (And AT&T is usually on band 4 or band 17, T-Mobile is usually on band 4.)
