Hello -- I bought my son a gently used S7 off Swappa. All seems to be well with the phone, but the OS is 6.0. He tried updating it through settings and by downloading Smart Switch -- both places told him an update wasn't available.
He's only had the SIM card inserted & been on the network for a few hours. Does it take a little while for the network to realize the phone has an old OS?
Or, will factory resetting it force it to find the most recent update?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you know if this phone was originally bought from a carrier? A carrier-specific phone typically needs to be on that carrier's network in order to get an official system update. I think Smart Switch and Odin won't even work, at least for certain carrier-specific phones (like those from AT&T).
