Today morning, my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 started rebooting spontaneously. I've had the phone for around 2.5 years now with no problems, and the onset of the issue was sudden -- the first reboot happened overnight, then by around 12 PM the phone was rebooting every couple minutes, and by 2 PM, the phone would not even make it past the initial power-on screen that displays the "Samsung Galaxy S6" logo before rebooting.

I have gone through a variety of troubleshooting steps to no avail, and before resigning to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue, I wanted to see if anyone here could help me.

First off, I did not update the phone recently, nor have I recently installed any new apps. I also doubt that the issue is due to new software, as the reboot will happen even when I boot into safe mode, and now even before the OS has a chance to load. Sometimes, the phone will cycle through the "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen -> blank screen "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen indefinitely, and now, if left to its own devices, after rebooting some number of times, will just remain on a blank screen with the blue power on light fading in and out.

I have tried wiping the device cache partition, but that did not help. I also tried Akram Alhinnawi's solution here (https://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s6/555806-samsung-galaxy-s6-keeps-restarting.html), but that did nothing.

The only thing I can do to keep the phone from spontaneously rebooting is to load into Android Recovery by holding the power button + volume up button + home button. There, the phone will stay on the recovery screen until the battery dies.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem? I have a feeling I know the answer, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I could try before giving up. I don't think flashing the OS will make much of a difference, as the phone will reboot even before making it past the power on screen, but my knowledge of the Android boot sequence is limited, so I'm willing to try it if it might yield results.

I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

If that were my device, I wouldn't tolerate that! Baring it did not get wet and I had backed up my data and reset it once for luck, I would also deduce the fact it is 2.5 years old and justify a new shiny upgrade

Welcome to Android Central! See if you can boot into Download Mode and reinstall the firmware using Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/amb...interface.html
