I why can't I hear my Google assistant ?

I downloaded Google Assistant I can't hear a talk so I resetted my phone and it still doesn't work even checked out the settings for my phone but everything else seems to work except for my Google

Welcome to Android Central! Are you saying that the volume is really low for the voice, or that it just isn't speaking at all? Open your Google app, tap Menu>Settings>Voice, and make sure Speech Output is turned on.

I went through 2 days of uninstalling, reinstalling clearing cache, updating, etc. Nothing worked. Then, I happened to notice Do Not Disturb was turned On. I switched it off - voila problem solved. I feel stupid and happy at same time! LOL!
