Android Central Question

I have created an FTP server on my mobile phone using ES File Explorer.
In the explorer, I have set the root directory to "/".
However, when I view these files from my computer, Only the Sd card folder appears. Furthurmore, when i set the root directory to something like "/system/" the following error occurs.

An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP Server.
Make sure you have permission to access that folder.

I have also tried FTP using another client (Wifi FTP Server) and the same error occurs.

How may I give my PC the ability to access the rest of the folders in the root directory? (such as system or dev)
