Welcome to Android Central! The phone should still ask for your backup password from time to time for added security, so it's surprising that you've been able to use your phone without knowing it. You can try using Samsung's Find My Mobile to see if you can remotely change the password: https://findmymobile.samsung.com. Otherwise, you're stuck. Keep trying to remember the password you created.
