How can I run 2 or more apps simultaneously

I want to run multiple apps at the same time, not in split screen, and switch between them. I want to run/listen to YouTube videos in background while playing a game. I also want to be able to switch off of the game and do other things without the game program being stopped (The game has portions which run automatically, but it stops if it's put in background). Is there an app for this?

For YouTube - you'll need a YouTube Red subscription for background listening (though not for PiP now).

I doubt you'll get the game to stay running in the background but maybe someone else has info on that.

If you don't want to use split screen, you'll need a second device. Android isn't like windows that way.
