Why is volume increasing on its own

[Android Central Question]

Have had Android Pie for two days. Using the Pixel 2 xl. Today, volume started to increase all on it's own. Won't stay at the level I've selected.

Welcome to Android Central! Is it only the Media volume, or are all volume sliders going up?

I have the same phone, but opposite problem. My volume keeps going down on its own. I haven't found a solution
