Android Central Question

So basically the battery on my phone has been dying over the last month or so, constantly shutting off at 70% etc.
I purchased a new battery online and followed a guide on how to replace the battery.
The guide was relatively easy to follow and I replaced the battery without an issue.
However, now when I try and boot the phone, it gets to the lockscreen before giving me a "shutting down" message. I have tried charging the phone, and changing back to the old battery but I still receive this issue.
I'm not sure what's causing this or how to fix it. I don't know if I've plugged something in incorrectly or not but any help would be appreciated!
