My wife has a Samsung S9 Plus. Recently when browsing on Chrome, if she touches the top right corner of the edge (very close to the 3 dots to access settings), a popup displays showing various videos and adds. When hitting the back button, a pop displays asking "Want to leave fun now?". Options are leave or stay and an option box to not show the message again.

I've cleared all browsing history, and cleared the cache in the phone settings. I've run Bitdefender mobile protection and Malwarebytes. Neither program found any issues.

I have the same phone, but do not have the same issue, so I don't think it is a new "feature". I'm guessing it is some form of malware, but can't find any info on it or a way to remove it.

Then it's an app that you downloaded. Start uninstalling the last ones dld.

I uninstalled all the apps that I think I installed since I remember it appearing and there is no change.

And having done that, does it still persist in Safe Mode?

It must still be a third-party app causing the trouble.

I also had this problem on my phone, and started deleting apps to see which one had the problem. I think it was the app QR Code Reader. I didn't have the problem when I first downloaded the app a few months ago, but it was an app update that started the problem. It's been 24 hours, and the problem hasn't come back again. When you're trying to find an issue, don't just consider the latest apps you've downloaded, but also which ones you've been giving permissions to for updates.

We had a similar issue on one of our phones. It was an app called Wonder Video. As soon as we got rid of that, the annoying widget went away.

Same problem! Uninstalled many apps and it's still there. Do you have to restart in order for it to disappear upon uninstall?

I went through the "running services" under developer option, i closed one by one and i found it.. interestingly its an app i installed long ago. Also, judging by the similar sympton from different users yet the culprit apps are different.. this maybe a new malware that disguise itself or hide under some existing app..

For my case its the "Z Camera". One thing I observed, when I see 'Running services', there are more than 1 "Z Camera", I think the culprit randomly disguise itself as something in the phone.
