I have tried many apps to read me incoming texts while I am driving and allow me to respond. What I am looking for is an app that will announce that I have an incoming text (or phone call), ask me if I want it read, then ask me if I want to reply. I cannot use Android Auto as my car, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, does not support Android Auto. It only has bluetooth audio. I have tried Bixby, Google Voice and DriveMode. DriveMode showed the most promise but I had a lot of problems with it understanding me. I'm surprised by now that there isnt a better solution. Any advice is appreciated. I used to be a W10M user and this worked flawlessly with Cortana but I have yet to find anything comparable on Android.

Android Auto works on the phone even if the car doesn't have it. I use it in a vehicle that doesn't even have Bluetooth built in. It just displays on the phone screen rather than on a screen in the car.

I tried it and I just could not get it to work right. It took over the phones screen to the point where I just couldn't do anything and the voice responsiveness was horrible.

That was the intent of developing Android Auto - reduced distraction by only allowing music, navigation, messaging (through notification and initiation from voice command) and phone.

Which would be fine if the voice responsiveness handled all incoming phone calls and texts but on older cars it just doesnt.

I use DriverMode and it works really well as a Cortana replacement. Like you I went through a bunch of different options but I never found a better alternative. I do see that you've tried it already however so it's unfortunate that it's not working for you.

It has an option in the Bluetooth settings to toggle between using the phone mic and the bluetooth mic. Maybe try it both ways and see if one is better?

It's been a while since I've used it, I'll give it another shot.
