Android Central Question

Just switched from the iPhone X to the Note 9. Love it. I couldn't be happier. Apps with overlay, running two apps at once on top of each other, included fast charging, ditching that silly Lightning port are all great.

There's ONE thing that I really miss from my iPhone so far. I loved that when someone texted me, it'd light my screen up with the name of who texted me and tell me how many messages I had from them.

Right now, the AOD just shows me the small icon of a message when I get texted so I have to open up my phone to see who it is. I don't care if I need to turn the AOD off. I'd just like if when someone texts me, it turns my screen on, and shows me who it is.

Thank you for any help.

Relevant info:
I'm using android messages.
I have pin, face, iris and finger print setup.

That should be an option in your messaging app. I thought it was there on the stock Samsung one, but I guess they removed it (I personally HATE that the screen lights up with texts, so when Samsung started doing it it was the first thing I disabled). I use Textra now and that does support turning on the screen when you receive a text, maybe that'll work for you.
