Android Central Question

My phone is set to 4G/3G/2G (auto connect). If the 4g signal is too weak connections time out so manually switching to 3G/2G (auto connect) and then everything works.

Your definition of "too weak" and the phone's definition are different. If it gets 4G except for a few dropouts, it's not "too weak". (Phones aren't ham radios. Most phone users wouldn't know how to set up a manual "switch down under these conditions" system. And wouldn't want to be bothered. Phones are designed for the masses, and the usual switch points work for most people most of the time.)

If you know how to switch down manually without too much trouble, you're ahead of 99.99% of cellphone users. So just keep manually switching.
