My Huawei P20 just updated recently and one of the changes is the requirement to add a password before changing from a default launcher to a 3rd party launcher. (I'm using Nova but it applies to every launchers) I don't want to lock my phone but it seems like Huawei wants me to use their crappy layout. So is there a bypass? Thanks

I don't own the P20, but it may be for a back up feature, I believe Samsung lets you back up your launcher settings.

Put in a password, set Nova as the default launcher ("Always"), then set the lockscreen to Swipe or None.

Got the exact same problem with the square launcher 2.

    No solution so far 😔

Go to developers options and uncheck Lockscreen. Let me know if that helped.
