Why are coordinates on some photos?

Ok so you've had your photo, gone into the details section. At bottom there's a small map, below left, coordinates.
Is there where was sent from, or where was received? Thanks.

It's where it was taken. When you're taking pictures on a camera, you have the option to save geolocation data. If you're saving to Photos, you also have the option to disable geolocation data on saved/synced pictures.
