I took a lot of photos today, but then noticed my gallery icon was not there , when I try to open a photo file I get the message “there is no application to open this file”. Why has gallery disappeared? I am an old technophobe so please don’t dazzle me with gobble de gook.
    Phone is Samsung S4.

Welcome to Android Central! Tap the App Drawer button (the one in the bottom tray that looks like a grid of dots) and look for the Gallery app in that list. When you see it, long-press it, then drag and drop it back to the homescreen. Now see if you can open the Gallery app and see your photos.

One extra piece of advice. Make sure you use Google photos as your backup for all your photos.
