Battery draining after update

I updated my Moto G5 running Nougat yesterday, and the battery life is decimated. I used to be able to charge before bed and unplug it, and wake up 98%. This morning it was at 19%!! I know it's hard to undo a update but is there anything to do?

What did your battery usage stats indicate as having used the charge?

It was the Android OS. 40%!

It may settle down. Android OS includes many packages so without a good deal of digging it's not always obvious which ones are responsible, but it may simply be general stuff going on after the software update.
It may be worth trying a Cache Partition wipe, which if it does no good, will do no harm.

So I think I fixed it, and the fix was so simple (crossing fingers it sticks, but a few hours in it looks good). It was actually Android System, not Android OS, draining the battery (because apparently those are different). I went into apps, selected show system apps, and force closed Android System. Didn't seem to affect any functioning, and 2 hours after a full charge (and virtually no use) I'm still at 98%.
