I've a 128 GB card in my Samsung S7. Suddenly I found I couldn't write to it. So I tried unmounting then mounting it. After this, the folders on the card show up as 0 bytes icons (which I can't drill down into it). The card itself shows as still almost full as before.

When I inserted the card into a Windows PC, I could read it fine and even did a chkdsk on it with no errors.

Any idea what might have happened here?

Some firmware corrupted. Try turning the phone off, inserting the card, then turning it on.

If that doesn't work, and it's extremely rare, the SD port is bad in some strange way. (Usually - and, as I said, even usually is a rare occurrence - the card reads or it doesn't or there's a file on it that causes a problem when Media Scan scans the card - but then the phone appears to hang.) When the port goes bad, it just looks like there's no card, which is why the "some strange way".
