What's the possibility of screen damage?

The Verizon store sold me a tempered glass screen protector meant for a Galaxy Note 8 to use on my Galaxy Note 9. It doesn't fit properly and I am concerned.

Welcome to Android Central! Applying the wrong screen protector won't damage the screen in itself. Since they sold you the wrong screen protector, take it off the phone and return it to Verizon, asking for either a refund or an exchange for the right protector.
