Why do apps open straight after they are updated?

Every time I update an app from google play store, the app just automatically open up by itself as soon as it has been updated. I have had to turn off auto updates but this gets annoying as I end up having loads of apps waiting to be updated.

I've never seen that. I get a couple of notifications I swipe away, but that's it. Are you "moving" your apps to an SD card, perhaps? (I don't know if that would cause it, just throwing out a guess.)
