Android Central Question

I have a Astro Tab A935 android tabet. I am trying to use it as family information hub. It is used exclusively to view an app that show's the family's calendar and the weather. However, after going into sleep mode (from within the app), the tablet wakes up at the home screen and then I have navigate back to the app. I would like to have the tablet wake up directly in the app with no additional steps. Does anyone know how to make this happen?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Welcome to Android Central! Any power-saving modes turned on, or battery-saver/"memory booster" apps installed?

Some devices come with relatively aggressive RAM management in the firmware, causing apps to close out of RAM relatively easily, so that might be the case with your tablet. If you have the Screen Pinning option in the system settings, try that.

That sort of worked. I was able to pin the app, but that kept the tablet from ever going into sleep mode. Also, while it was pinned, I couldn't see the notification bar while the app was pinned. Is there a way to pin the app while still allowing the tablet to enter sleep mode?

I wonder if the app itself has a screen wakelock active (i.e., it keeps the screen awake as long as you have the app open, like most video player and ebook reader apps). Not sure if you can override that. Although you mentioned the tablet going into sleep mode from within the app -- does that mean that normally, if you have that app open but the tablet is idle, it does go to sleep on its own?

The inability to see the status bar might also be intentional, since screen pinning is often used when you want other people to use a specific app and don't want them to access any other part of the device.

You could try a kiosk app that locks the device to one app. Try Kiosk Lockdown LimaxLock.
