    Hi everyone!

I have a Sony Bluetooth stereo which runs on Bluetooth 3.0. My phone is a Pocophone F1 which has Bluetooth 5 built in. Music and all other device sounds play perfectly through my stereo but when I make a call the person on the other end can hear me through my stereo mic but I cannot hear them. I've also tried it with my Dad's Nokia 2 which also has Bluetooth 5.

I've read that Bluetooth 5 is backwards compatible so I thought it would work but am I wrong? I have read about disabling OK Google but I don't have that featured turned on anyway.

Should it work? If not can I do anything to make it work?

    Thanks in advance!

Check volume settings on the phone (in-call volume) and if it's showing as connected when making a call (BT icon should be active on the call screen). If it's not active, the phone isn't actually using the BT connection for phone calls. If this is the case, go to your BT settings and check that both Media and Phone profiles are active on the connection with your car (if only Media is active, only that will play through it).

Hi Spookdroid thanks for the reply. I did check earlier whether it had the correct profiles and it does as seen in the screenshot I've taken.

When taking a call, do you hear the audio coming through your phone's speakers? Have you checked both volume levels (phone and car) just to make sure neither is turned all the way down? Does this happen with other BT devices (headphones, other car)?

I don't hear it through my phone speakers unless I change it from Bluetooth to speaker whilst in the call. The call volume is all the way up whilst using Bluetooth as is the stereo volume. Annoyingly I don't have anything else I can check the Bluetooth on.

In fact my Mum has a Bluetooth stereo so I will try it on her stereo tomorrow and see what happens.

It doesn't seem to be the issue, but just to double check... It's not coming from the 'normal' speaker, either (not speakerphone) right?

It only comes through the speakers on the phone if I tell it to. If I leave it as normal to route via the stereo I hear no sound from the phone speakers or the car speakers.

So in other words what you're saying is correct.

Did you get a chance to try on a different BT unit?

...so after scouting Google I've come across exactly what I think is my problem...sound from phone calls only routes to the front speakers...I only have speakers in the rear because I'm in the process of buying new ones for the front so therefore I have no sound because I don't have speakers in the front...and now I feel silly!

Oh wow! Damn! Well, that is totally unexpected. Even if you move the balance of your vehicle's EQ to full rear-only sound? Damn!

Same here I was pretty surprised!
I tried fading all the audio to the back. That was a good idea. No change though so it looks like until I get some speakers in the front I'll be making calls through the speaker on the phone

Have you tried re-wiring the speakers? At least while you get new ones?
