We are developing an IoT solution where an important part is the pairing of an IoT device to the home WIFI network. We have an android application which, under program control, looks for and connect to the IoT device; sends it some configuration information by passing data to a socket and then switches back, under program control, to the home network. All of this works very reliably on phones with Android versions 4.4.4 and 6.0.1, BUT it is notoriously unreliable on a brand new phone, version 8.0.0. Does anyone have any idea of what might have changed that could cause this problem? Thanking you in advance for any hints.

I am guessing that this message would be better served in one of the developer forums.
