Alternative camera apps?

Hi all.

I'm still relatively new to Android phones but I noticed when playing around with various launchers that you can change the default camera app. Is this right? Is it a case of just setting a third party camera app from the Play Store as your default camera app?

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to this at all?

There's no default camera app in most situations - camera apps don't take pictures by themselves, and that's what 'default' means - when something happens, the app you chose as default pops up and runs. Then a voice call comes in, Phone is normally the default app. When you tap a lonk, there's a default browser. The camera app? If you want to take a picture, use whichever camera app you prefer.
