Problems texting in Vietnamese.

I'm trying to text in Vietnamese but when I send it, my phone displays two messages. One with correct text and another one with incorrect text. The incorrect one just shows the Vietnamese accent letters with a question mark instead. This is also the only message that the recipient receives which is just garbled gibberish. How do I fix this?

Make sure that you have your text app set to allow it to "not break long messages" or to use MMS in some other way. Otherwise it sends texts as 7-bit characters, and the accents mean that the font is in unicode (8 bit) text.
