I am shopping for Android tablets. I am looking for two main features: (1) a removable battery that can be removed and re-inserted or swapped out for a new battery, and (2) a GPS receiver. I don't want or need cellular.

Problem is, none of the side-by-side comparisons include the removable battery feature. It is hard to find any tablets where the battery can be removed and replaced.

    Here's why:

    (1) I am trying to find an appropriate Android tablet for my son. He loves to use speedometer apps that let him see how fast we are going, and this requires GPS.

    (2) Our previous Android devices developed problems and we couldn't charge them any more. These problems could have been solved by removing and re-inserting the battery, but the batteries are non-removable. So the devices stopped working.

I think the reason that this is not included on side-by-side comparisons is that it's simply extremely rare. Shoot - way back in 2012 when I bought my Acer tablet I don't think there were many, if any, tablets with removable batteries. You're going to have a hard time finding the battery requirement at the least, and finding one that includes both in the same device is likely "needle in a haystack" territory.

Amazon Fire tablets are the way to go for the kids. Some models are 50 and have GPS.

This is the only Android tablet with a removable battery being sold in recent times, and I'm not sure it's sold everywhere:

Other than that, you have to go to the way back machine to like 2012-2013 for the Toshiba Thrive.

The Tab S was a pretty easy battery swap too.
