I just got a new phone. My old Android had a "Gallery" app where I could see the photos, etc that I've taken and share from there. The pics that I messaged would show up in the message thread. Now, I have to go to the camera first. When I click share, the recipient gets a Google link to see what I've sent via messaging. I've uninstalled Google photos and now when I message a photo nothing goes through.
What happened to Gallery?! How do I message pics without going through Google?

Not all devices have a Gallery app. You can download such an app from the Play Store if you wish.
What's your objection to Google Photos?

Yes,you can install app from play store or maybe check in your hidden apps to see if it is in there, you access hidden apps by going to settings, display, home, then scroll down to hidden apps.
