When looking for a new phone, what would you recommend as the best version of Android installed by the OEM?

Assuming latest Android features, security, etc. And not worrying too much about hardware specs. What versions have the least bloatware? The coolest launcher? Smoothest, quickest, most adaptable, etc.?

Thoughts about going all in with Google. Or all in with Microsoft launcher, Cortana, and apps?

This might seem obvious, but the Pixel phones will be constantly up-to-date and have the least bloatware. You can always install a 3rd party launcher if you don't like the Pixel Launcher -- I customarily install Nova Launcher for its versatility, customizability, and performance.

As for other manufacturers, I would say OnePlus and Moto are pretty good about minimal bloat. Moto's not very good with updates, though.
