Welcome to Android Central! Is it asking for your password as additional security after recognizing your fingerprint?

If you tap the password entry field, the keyboard doesn't appear? You might have to connect a basic USB keyboard via OTG cable to enter the password. Once you get past that, go to Settings>Apps, and make sure the stock keyboard app didn't get disabled. It might be a good idea to install a good alternate keyboard, like Gboard (if that's not the stock keyboard already).
