I mistakenly uploaded windows software update to this android and can't really find this
Giant file to delete it. I mean I CAN pull it up but only to install it. Should I install it and then
Uninstall? Or will that do any damage?
I guess I learned my lesson about operating systems and patience.
    Thanks Dug

Welcome to Android Central! How did you download that update file to your phone? Use the My Files app to look in the /Download directory -- do you see the file there?

It's not a phone, it's a Galaxy Tab4 with Android version 5.0.2. I went to check for updates and it was like a one way street. Once it started looking there was nothing I could do. No stop or delete button in site. Also, like I said, I can bring it up now but again the only option I have is to download it.
    Thanks for the quick reply.

Phones and tablets are essentially the same thing, assuming you're not talking about the ability to make phone calls. Are you saying that when you went to the System Updates menu in the system settings, it downloaded a Windows update by mistake? That would be impossible. How did you download the Windows update file, as you mentioned in your original post?

Um, what? Did you get Roget's Thesaurus as an early Christmas gift?
Lol No. I had to run to the store to get milk for the grandkids before I went to bed, was in a big hurry and didn't check my work. Lol TRUST me, I read it, it definitely sounded like I fell and bumped my head a couple dozen times.
OK I just started learning these couple steps and all the directions that come with it. I went to Settings }About Device }Software Updates. It took me to a bunch of Windows updates, and I had a separate window open trying to find out what kind of OS the Tablet used. I should have just taken my time., but I guess that just wasn't to be.

Sorry, that response was intended for a pathetic spammer that has since been deleted, not you.

I'm still not sure how the Settings>About Device>Software Updates menu in your tablet's system settings could possibly take you to a bunch of Windows updates. That tablet was never a dual-boot device (unless you or someone else hacked it to boot into Windows as well).

You have to use a file manager to find the file to delete it. You should have My Files in that device. It will work.

Ok, first off I'd like to thank Rukbat and B. Diddy for trying to help me. Something tells me that I more than likely unzipped that Windows update. If you're going to show your stupid, you might as well take it all the way, right? Lol
I have found some clues tho. The size of the file was 247.68MB. I'm getting ready to go in and try to see if I can trace, my steps with the "Find my Activity " and hopefully I'll be able to piece something together. I also believe that the page that I found the Windows file, I also found the XPPowerToys. I'll have to post more about that later.
Does anyone else have a suggestion about a different app than "My Files"? I used that yesterday with no luck. I saw on your site yesterday examples of searches that used /storage /emulated /legacy. , /storage/sdcard/0 andn/sdcard. I don't have an sdcard, so what type of card should get for more storage if I ever get to that point?
OK thanks again guys,,,,,,Dug 🍩🍳☕I'll buy breakfast this morning.

I like Total Commander, but Google's own Files Go is also a good file manager without any annoying ads.

Hey B Diddy. Hope this new installment of Knuckleheads Inc finds you doing well. I wanted to thank you and Rukbat for trying to help me. I still haven't found that Windows file yet. I downloaded Total Commander and have been studying it for the last 2 days and I like it very much.
Please let me know like what kind of extensions I should be looking for.
Also, I stumbled across something else. I have the file SCUDownloader.exe on my tablet. I know it's not that big a deal but I want to get rid of it.
Kind of on the funny side I have barak.obama.badgirl as a porn video that hasnt been downloaded yet.
OK have a good day. I'm going for lunch then back to my tablet.
    Thenx Dug

Any .exe file is useless on an Android device. Just delete it. I don't quite understand the porn video issue -- are you saying that you're getting notifications to download that video, or is there a file with that name on the phone?

Yeah I understand the exe thing it would be an apk file on this tablet. And no I'm not getting anything saying to download it I just thought it was funny name for a porno. OK well I guess the windows thin isn't going anywhere either. It's a pain but I have been learning a lot this last couple weeks.Thanx again, Dug

Also, any .dll files - they're strictly Windows. (An .apk file is just a .zip file that's been renamed to .apk - you can open it in any app that can open .zip files.)
    B. Diddy likes this.

Try Data Size Explorer from the playstore. You should be able to locate anything.
