[Android Central Question]

Some contacts are missing from both phone and the google account. This is incredibly frustrating when I have to ask someone who they are or I need to reach someone I haven't talked to in awhile and no longer have their number. I have not accidentally deleted any contacts.

Have you checked your Google contacts online to see if they appear to all be there? You can force update your account and I think you can recover deleted contacts without so many days. I think everything with Google is 60 days but don't quote me on that.

In your contacts, on your device, there is a kind of sort by list in the upper left corner. Be sure that the Google account associated with these numbers is checked along with any other accounts or locations you wish to be displayed. I believe if they are not checked to be displayed they will appear as new or unknown numbers. I also believe if you log in to your device with other accounts this setting may change.
