    My UMX phone battery died and so I can't get it to turn on to unmount the sd drive.

    If the phone is off it will be okay to remove the card and use a PC to extract the files on it..

    If you intend to repair the phone, just put the SD card back in it before you boot it up.

    You could also use the card in a new phone.

    I would recommend not doing this. It would be better to boot it up without the card and make sure it's functioning properly before inserting the card. If something were to go wrong that takes out the phone, at least the card would be safe. Once it's safely up and running, then you can insert the card.
